Many applications just require a piece of hardware to grip so someone can open a door or lid. Guden threaded Rod Pulls are an easy way to meet that need. They're available in a curved U shape design, in an assortment of lengths and heights. Aside from making sure the size is correct, you also have to make sure you're using the proper screws, or you will end up with the situation seen in the picture. The ends of the rod pull are threaded to accept a screw, so it's important to use the proper threading as well as the proper length. Not quite sure why, but this size screw seems way off for this application, so my guess is that they wanted it this way so someone could fit more than just their fingers through the handle opening, or someone with a very very big hand opens this particular door.
