Guden’s Products Comply With RoHS Directive

RONKONKOMA, NY -- The H. A. Guden Co., Inc. has announced that 95% of its standard products are now in compliance with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS). This directive, which took effect on July 1, 2006, restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. Manufacturers in the USA supplying products to EU member nations are for all intents and purposes required to be RoHS compliant.

Virtually all of Guden’s products being sold to OEM’s and fabrication shops in the USA are RoHS compliant. A small percentage of their parts manufactured to US Military Specifications have required finishes that do not comply. In either case, Guden has placed a compliance indicator next to every product displayed on their website.

RoHS is usually referred to as the "lead-free" directive, but it also restricts the use of mercury, Cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and PBDE. PBB and PBDE are flame-retardants used in certain plastics. The maximum concentrations are specified to be 0.1% or 1000ppm (except for Cadmium which is limited to 0.01% or 100ppm) by weight of homogeneous material.
